It’s been 6 years since New Zealand’s fourth most popular folk band called it quits on their tv show / album recording, citing that it was just too much to record an entire album’s worth of songs along with recording each new episode of their show (which lasted two seasons). Looks like it wasn’t enough to hold the band back forever though.

There’s been a passionate outcry from fans ever since the show ended for a followup season or a movie and it looks like a movie might just be a possibility in the near future. Jemaine Clement (one half of Flight of The Conchords), who has been on tour promoting his new movie People, Places, Things recently told Indiewire in an interview: “We have actually started writing one. But who knows if it will ever be made, we’ve written some notes for some different film ideas. We’re not down to the stage where we’re going, ‘The film is going to be like this,’ it could be this, this, this, this, this.”

In addition to the possibility of a feature Conchords film, the reunited band also hopes to announce a tour before the end of the year.

There’s no knowing when the film is going to be coming out or when the tour is going to be happening (purposefully not using the “if” word here) but until there’s something more solid, let’s watch their video for “Sugarlumps.”
