Sun, food, sweat, and a whole lot of incredible live music. Chipotle’s Cultivate Festival, a one day festival that promotes healthy eating as well as local love, made a stop this past weekend in Kansas City, Mo. for it’s second year in a row.

Cultivate’s KC stop kicked off with an invite only pre-party that Chipotle threw for a handful of lucky patrons. The “Soundcheck” concert, which was an intimate performance by The Mowgli’s, took place at the Chipotle location in Mission, Kansas. In addition to the free music, the restaurant still served food–for free–to be enjoyed during the set.

A full day of music, delicious chef demos, and tons of educational and immersive experiences helped everyone forget about the 100+ degree heat. Running around the festival grounds at Penn Valley Park, it was easy to see why people flocked to the free festival. Especially with the likes of Broods, Atlas Genius, The Mowglis, Hembree, JR. JR., and The Knocks playing the mini-music festival and Carla Hall, Andrew Zimmern, Colby Garrelts, Gerard Craft, and Michael Corvino giving some incredible chef demos.

With the Cultivate Festival happening in only three cities in the US every year, we highly recommend attending when you can. even if ya gotta hop in a car and jump a couple state lines.

Writer’s note: The festival was extremely well organized and Chipotle took exceptional care of not just us, but of everyone in the festival. Kudos for such an excellent and well thought out job.
