Heads up Spotify users, Alternative Press recently wrote a pretty fantastic article about getting your favorite bands the extra bang for their buck and it’s strange simple: all you gotta do is keep playing, even if no one is listening. More precisely, keep streaming.

Basically, bands get paid for each time one of their songs gets listened to, but it’s only about .007 cents. Obviously, the more times the songs get played the more worthwhile it is to have songs up on Spotify. So rather than stopping the music when you’re not listening to it, just turn it down or mute it, that way you can rack up the listens. Bands get paid, make more music, and serenade us longer. Win, win, winning.

Check out the original article for the hard math.

Long live the tunes.
