The guys from Emery have made a pretty good name for themselves making their brand of post-hardcore music since their debut album The Weak’s End came out in 2004. The band put out a new album earlier this year (which was crowd-funded) and have been on the road ever since promoting the album. Matt Carter (guitar) and Toby Morrell (vocals) have been keeping extra busy in addition to all the music they have been making lately; they are also two of the brains behind the BadChristian Podcast: an independent podcast that tackles the topics of music, faith, personal brokenness, the tour life, and the struggles of waking up each day–amongst a whole lot more.

The show has had a ton of notable guests and the podcast has grown to the point where the guys have around 50,000 podcast downloads each week. It’s expanding rapidly. So the other day Matt, Nick Bunda (BadChristian producer), and Mike Mowery (Outerloop Management) announced the creation of Jabberjaw Media, a music-focused podcast network that aims to collaboratively build a large audience and promote each of the shows through the other shows. In essence, it’s a collaborative environment where artists are invited to host their own podcasts that are free-form and open format, powered by the preexisting fans of the artists as well as those looking for something honest and new. It’s a pretty genius idea: nothing gets people more excited than excitement.

The artist-friendly network will work with its shows and creators to produce and innovate in the podcasting medium, encouraging free expression of thoughts, ideas, and beliefs. Jabberjaw Media intends to aggregate present podcasts and help them thrive while also seeking to produce and develop new talent within independent music and beyond.

While the group currently already has a few podcasts in rotation (including the BadChristian podcast), they added two new shows with the announcement of this collaborative endeavor: Lead Singer Syndrome with Shane Told of Silverstein and The Art Collective with Stephen Christian, who was the frontman for Anberlin before they split up last year. Lead Singer Syndrome focuses on on-the-road interviews with those killer folks fronting bands while The Art Collective focuses on the interplay between music and literature as well as a focus on the creative process.

The Jabberjaw Media lineup will include The Bad Christian Podcast, Break it Down with Matt Carter, 100 Words or Less with Ray Harkins, Metal Sucks Podcast, Nothing to Write Home About with Matt Pryor, Modern Vinyl, Washed Up Emo, Metal Brainiac, and the newly announced shows Lead Singer Syndrome with Shane Told, and The Art Collective with Stephen Christian.

Head on over to the Jabberjaw site to read the full press-release statement and listen to some of the shows that have already begun airing. Even if you just listen to one episode of your chosen podcast, it’ll worth it.
