A large crowd of music lovers and cell phone owners gathered this past Wednesday to say goodbye to May with another Sofar show. Wait, cell phone owners? Yep! Virgin Mobile, a sponsor of Sofar Sounds, co-hosted the most recent event and invited their customers to check out all the talent KC has to offer. WeWork Corrigan Station kindly opened their coworking space to accommodate the larger than usual crowd. WeWork has everything a workspace needs: a coffee bar, company kitchen, tons of private rooms, mouthwash dispensers in the bathrooms, and the perfect space for throwing a secret concert.

Yes You Are, typically a five piece band, performed with only the lead and rhythm guitars and a melodic, softer sound from singer Kianna. It also happened to be Kianna’s birthday, and in true Sofar tradition, emcee Tevin Williams lead everyone in singing “Happy Birthday” after their set. The band says we can look forward to a music video release in the coming months.

Luther Vincent kept the mellow vibes flowing with songs about putting aside our differences and a list of aspirations of what he’ll do when he “leave(s) this old town for a while.” He shared his feeling on how special the music scene in KC truly is, and we here at Playlistplay obviously agree.

Jessica Paige rounded out the night and reminded us that “life can be a lot,” so it’s important to hold onto something that helps you find your calm. Her gorgeous vocals layered over a soothing upright bass was surely that something for many in the crowd. On May 25th, Jessica released the music video for her song “Night Train,” which can be found here.
