Press play and your toe is already tapping. That won’t stop, better get used to it.
“Shake Me”, the first single from New York-based singer/songwriter Jordan Sommerlad’s impending debut album Your Favorite Palindrome, spends its four-and-a-half minutes expelling an anxious energy. “Shake Me” is certainly a song best listened to through your favorite headphones. A cacophony of dynamic instrumentation drives the track, constantly churning and changing. Clean and jaunty guitars shed their sheen and explode with distorted tones, spinning out of control and coming back around. Exceptionally smooth vocals ride the wild wave as Sommerlad’s voice rises and falls with the motion of the track.
“Shake Me” is available everywhere Friday, May 10th. Sommerlad is celebrating the release at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York on May 11th, more info here.
