Michael Benjamin Lerner, AKA Telekinesis, has had a rather awesome day: a new track off his new album Ad Infinitum premiered over at NPR’s All Songs Considered  and he released a pretty killer blog entry on the recording process of said album.

Ad Infinitum releases on September 18th via Merge records and was recorded in Lerner’s basement. After releasing three albums and recording each within the course of 2 weeks, Lerner decided he wanted to take a pass at doing something a little bit different: open up his own recording studio in his basement, utilize his newfound love for synthesizers, learn how to use his new collection of synthesizers, and record a new record at his own pace in his own domain.

One of the fruit’s of this experimental labor is the track “Sleep In” which was released today. The track showcases the new, super-layered and methodically complex sound Lerner has managed to achieve in his basement on a hill. A blissed-out electric groove of a song, “Sleep In” conjures up imagery of floating in open water on your back at night only to realize that you’re surrounded by sharks…but friendly sharks who are kind enough to offer you a cold beverage.

Check out the Medium blog post Lerner wrote to get the full story and understand the depth of his battle with all the damn cords he had to use with his synths. Listen to the new Telekinesis track “Sleep In” below and watch the new(ish) video for “In A Future World” as well.
