Bad Dreamer, the dark wave, experimental, hip hop duo comprised of Jesse Bartmess (Sinple) and Joseph Stanziola (Second Hand King), have only been making music together for a short time. Releasing “What A Sad Trick” as a single in August, they are now premiering their visual for the track. The video opens with a statement: “What A Sad Trick: A Film By Bad Dreamer & Justin Walker”. And “A Film” is a great way to dive in.
The video is chock full of brilliant cinematic shots, making bold choices on lighting, angles, and cuts. But it pays off. A motto of the band, “heartbreak is okay” rings throughout the 3:30 minute film. A video as hauntingly strange as the song itself is precisely the vibe Bad Dreamer fosters.
