Ravyn Lenae, “Alive”
This song sounds like healing to me. Ravyn’s voice is beautiful and soothing, and her lyrics are a level of maturity that I aspire to. It’s rare for something to sound both melancholy and hopeful the way ‘Alive’ does. When I listen to it I feel a sense of disappointment and frustration, as if something isn’t working out the way I want it to, but where I expected the lyrics to turn vengeful, Ravyn instead sings “thank you.” It feels like she’s giving someone a break at the end of a long day when she knows they don’t deserve it. And that’s a really sweet feeling to share.
Daniel Caesar feat. Kali Uchis, “Get You”
It’s so soft and buttery. Both Daniel and Kali have strong, romantic vocals, and they’re especially dreamy when combined. ‘Get You’ is relaxed, confident, and gratifying. “This feels like summer.” So necessary for the cold right now.
